♫ We're going to the Zooooo! How about you? ♪

Today we (me, Jen, Alex, and the girls) went to Hogle Zoo. This was a last minute decision, but something we'd been talking about forever. So, we did it. First let me say (and I know Jen feels the same way about this) that this experience is somewhat sad for me because I hate to see animals living in such tight spaces, with hordes of people staring at them, making noises, and taking pictures. And while I'm on this topic, let me add a letter to all those men out there who I saw taking pictures using telescopic lenses, wearing safari vests and hiking boots:

Dear national geographic photographer (wannabe):
Just a kind note to inform you that you may have thought you were in Africa- but you weren't. You were in Salt Lake City, Utah. In Hogle Zoo. I wonder if you noticed all the strollers, kids, and vendors selling hotdogs, soda, and suckers. Good luck in your next adventure. Hope you got some fantastic shots.
Sincerely,
Virginia

On a side note, the kids had a fun time. The grand finale ended with an hour long wait in line for a 5 minute train ride. Good times. Of course, by the end, they were really, really tired. They all fell asleep in the car. To me, the best was watching the kids' excitement as they saw the animals and watching the kids play together.

P.S. When discussing the zoo, Alex keeps stringing together some words and somewhere in there he'll insert "rhino" and "poop". This is what he's referring to...
