Happy Birthday, Alex!

Oh my gosh! Today is officially Alex's birthday. We relaxed at home most of the day. Daddy brought him an ice cream shake from Iceberg Drive Inn (he loves them) and I made his favorite food for dinner- potatoes. Oh, and he got a major diaper rash that showed up in just a couple of hours time, poor guy! He was so uncomfortable, he kept saying "Poopy hurts!" I just had to post that so that in 20 years he can be embarrassed when he reads this.

Welcome back.

Well, after weeks of sunshine and warmer weather, comfortable walks, and fun in the park, an old friend came by for a visit! Sorry, Alex and Achilles, no walk today.

Happy Birthday, Alex!

Alex had his birthday party today. Wow, he had a blast. He got some great presents (thanks, everyone!) and got to play with his cousins (yes, AJ is his cousin too). I think he couldn't have asked for a better day. We hung out there for most of the day and watched I Am Legend while the kids watched Tarzan. Alex came home EXHAUSTED. It was all worth it.

A Quick Trip to St. George

On Wednesday I had to make a quick trip to St. George to teach a SOAR class while the local SOAR trainer had to head up to our orem office for the audits. I brought bela Gloria with me to watch Alex for the day and we came back Friday. It turned out to be a nice trip. Alex went swimming for the first time this season. He had a blast! And we had a blast watching him have so much fun! Before we left, we just had to go to Bear Paw Cafe for a delicious breakfast.

This was the only picture I took. Right before we came right back. I know, lame.

Thank You Easter Bunny! Bock Bock!

We had a great weekend! We dyed eggs on Saturday (well, Virginia did while Alex watched), then found new ones on Sunday, along with sweet and fun surprises. Alex loves his "the king" car that the Easter Bunny left him. Check it out!

Well, I found this picture from a few days ago and meant to add it to the blog 'cause it is hilarious. I walked out of the shower to find Alex sitting on my bed, putting on mascara. He saw me looking at him and said "look!" and started batting his eyelashes. What do you think?

The Quest for Alex's Bike

So, I am on a quest. Nothing like Lord of the Rings, or anything. I'm on a quest to find a bike for Alex's 2nd birthday. A little too young? Yeah, that's what I say. The thing is, though, that Alex really, really likes bikes - and trikes. Now that it's warmer, he tries to get the neighbor's bike all the time, but he's too little. Anytime he sees a bike, he goes for it. In fact, I'm sure that the trike in mom and dad's garage will be his new obsession, just like it was last summer. The problem is, he's too little for everything that's available. There are a few little trikes out there that are tiny, but Alex's little legs aren't strong enough to push on the pedals, and he gets too frustrated. Really, their little legs don't get strong enough until they are closer to 3. So now what? Big wheels? Still not strong enough to push those pedals. Besides, there are no big wheels anymore- I don't know if you realized that. Well, we'll keep looking. Cross your fingers.

Hidden treasures, Alex, and running cars???

Well, what an eventful day! Let me begin by telling you about our treasure hunt. Alex and I went geocaching with Jenny and the girls. We found 7 geocaches! The kids ended up with some unique "treasures" and new adventures. Moving from one adventure to another, as we were preparing to leave, Alex ended up inside the car with the engine running and the doors locked. I honestly don't know if it was my fault or his, but nevertheless... Boy, did he party in there! I mean, he was jumping and dancing and laughing and getting into everything while we tried all kinds of ways to get him to unlock the car. Eventually, we had to call our friendly neighborhood men in blue, who saved the day. Yay! This was a day we will never forget!

Raise your hand if you like chocolate cupcakes with sprinkles...

Today we hung out with Babus and Chumby while Jenny rested. We had a great time. We ate lunch together, played Elefun, watched "Touille", and painted our nails. Yes, Alex definitely wanted his nails painted too. And after a few small tantrums, I decided to do my best to reinforce the negative behavior by "painting" Alex's nails also (all pretend). Jenny was nice and brought us chocolate cupcakes.

And the winner is...

So, after months of agonizing over what theme to use for Alex's party, the decision was finally made. It will be a Cars theme. We went back and forth between Sesame Street, Ratatouille, and Cars. But, alas, Cars won. This morning I learned a lesson that new moms quickly learn. I had pulled out the invites so that I could fill them out. Alex saw them and FREAKED out. He wanted to have them and after I told him they were for belo, bela, shu shu, etc, he had a meltdown. Literally. I mean, it looked like he was melting into the floor, tears and all. In fact, I thought I heard him say "I'm melting!" just like the Wicked Witch of the West. So, I had to hide them, let the meltdown finish on its own, and fill them out after he was asleep. Ah, toddlers are such fun!
