Grasshoppers: A Story of Love and Betrayal

Before I begin with this story, you should scroll down and play the Barry White song to set the mood. Go on, now. It's at the very bottom of the playlist- scroll the playlist box to the bottom. That's it, baby. This is the song I was thinking about when the story began...no, seriously. Go do it!

Did you turn it on? Good. Now, keep reading...

So, while playing with Alex at his sandbox, this is what I saw. Two lovers enjoying the picturesque sunset. (Pause for a few bars....)The bigger one is the female. Yeah baby (Barry White style). Can't get enough of your love, baby.(Pause for a few bars...) Ooh, feeling groovy, baby. Ok, now keep going...

But, wait! What's that yonder? To the right... Doh! It's another male. Look carefully at the green dot in the far right a little higher. That's him. He's been jilted. Damn. Life sucks. He just waits there... Watching... He's been betrayed. He contemplates. (Pause for a few bars more. Feel his feelings. Let it take over.... The jig is up, baby.Ok, keep going... )

He leaves.

The end.

Alex: mommy, I'm scared!

Now, grab your baby, turn up the volume, and groove to the rest of the music, baby!

So long, summer. Booooo!

I know, summer's not over, but it kinda is. No more wearing linen, swimming in the pool, getting tan, lemonade, etc. But, that's okay, I'm excited for the beginning of fall. But, before we say hello to our new season, we made sure we said goodbye to summer...
We made waffles on saturday morning...So long, homemade waffles w/ fresh strawberries n'whipped cream!

We played at abuela Gloria's house... and with Callie...

Labor Day started out stormy...

But ended up fun...and boy, did the kids have fun!

Park City, Park City, I love Park City....Jazz!

We had our annual Park City trip, and we had a blast! The title is an excerpt from our theme song from our trip. If you're lucky and can round up all of us, we'll sing it for you. But if you want to see the hand motions that go along with that, you gotta officially become part of the family. It's for members only. Sorry. Anywho, we went swimming, shopping, swimming, played, etc. Can't wait until next year!

Dinosaurs and Petunias

The first part of the week Alex, Becky, and I headed to Vernal. I had to assist with a SOAR class there. To be honest, I adore the Vernal folks I work with over there, but the place itself, hmmm. Not so much of a fan. But having Alex and Becky there made it so much better. Some stories...

On the way to Vernal, we passed a trailer that had a mailbox by the road that simply said "SAM" on it.

I noted the petunias all over our hotel landscape, but as I headed deeper into Vernal... is petunia the official town flower?

There was a picture of a buffalo in our room. Alex was frightened of it.

Alex was also scared of the animal heads ALL OVER our hotel lobby. I had to carry him across the threshold everytime we passed it.

Alex was scared of that dinosaur that always gets dressed up for fancy occasions. That is why Becky is all by herself.

Alex likes to give talks on the podium, and often gets dramatic whilst doing so.

Thanks, Vernal RISE employees, for being so much fun!(Even though they won't read this)

Next adventure...Park City!
